You can send your production jobs directly to us at Printing & Mailing Services via the OSU computer network. Instead of printing your originals on your laser printer, you can save money, time, and paper and improve the quality of your documents by submitting your job to us electronically. This way, the ImageRunners and the continuous-tone color printers at Printing & Mailing Services become your own high-speed laser printers.
File Format:
We request that you send us PDF (Portable Document Format) files. In the past, emphasis has been placed on Postscript files. However, the advent of the PDF format now allows users to create files which reliably collect page layout, image, and font data - as Postscripting does - without having to install any of the printer drivers for our specific printers.
We strongly encourage departments to invest in the relatively low-cost Adobe Acrobat software package. Acrobat installs a printer driver, Acrobat Distiller, which can be used with any application. This virtual printer creates a PDF file which views and prints identically from a PC, Macintosh, or Unix computer. There are a number of options to set up initially, allowing the user to control graphics resolution and font embedding among other things. We have a PDF Tips document which you may find very helpful.
