Mailing Certifications
In order to better serve OSU, and save money, we have invested a great deal of time and energy obtaining several USPS certifications. These certifications allow us to take full advantage of postal discounts, stay ahead of impending changes, and continue to find creative ways to save the University postage related dollars.
The certifications held by our Mail List and Variable Data Processor are:
- Mailpiece Quality Control Specialist-The MQC program is the Postal Service's certification program for mailpiece design. Typical testing is administered by the USPS at the National Postal Forum.
- Intelligent Mail Barcode-2 year certification that demonstrates design, set-up and processing for the new IMB. Meets the minimum put forth by the USPS
- Mailpiece Design-USPS recognized program to ensure mail pieces meet the current specifications for automated discounts.
- Colleges and Universities mailing-National postal forum program, a two-year certification, specially designed for universities and mail processing.
- Quality Addressing-National Postal Forum certification for proper addressing and formatting to save discounts. Decisions made about address quality affect your ability to reach valued customers. Cost-effective and timely delivery of every mail-piece depends on a valid address containing complete and accurate address elements.
- Non-profit mailers-National Postal Forum certification specifically designed for non-profit mail and mailers. Training specifically on the particulars of the ins and outs of maintaining non-profit status.
- Postal One-National Postal Forum certification for the USPS postal one. This allows OSU to submit postage statements, manage accounts, and update postal information from the USPS website.
- Business Service Auditor- Auditor, in lieu of postal rep, for all of OSU’s postal data. Access to the internal information normally reserved for postal employees.
